The paper puts forth the ideas that prevent and assure the displacement of farmers during the natural disaster through the character Ganapayya and Herambha Hegde. Herambha Hegde accepts the necessity for displacement while Ganapayya exhibits a resistance towards displacement. Herambha Hegde accepts the necessity of change in livelihood while Ganapayya foregoes the necessity of change in livelihood. Herambha Hegde endorsed the extension of urbanization while Ganapayya stayed on traditional ways of occupation.
